What should I know about pool lights?

Lighting your pool allows you to swim at night with ambient light, creating a relaxing atmosphere or fun light show for you summer pool parties! LED pool lights allow you to change colors with a flip of a switch. In-pool light niches must be installed during construction, let us help you upgrade what you have. Smaller LED lights cost $800-$1000 installed.

How many lights do I need?

You have many options when it comes to choosing the pool light that fits your style and preference on brightness. Most commonly you will find that 1-3 lights is sufficient depending on the pools size. Reach out to us, we'll be able to help answer your questions and make suggestions based on your wants and needs.
LED:

LED stands for Light Emitting Diodes, illuminated by movement of electrons within a semiconductor material.

LED's have no filaments, so they emit no heat.

LED's also change color and have several light show settings.

LED bulbs have a much longer life span - about 30,000 hours!
Incandescent:

The first disadvantage of incandescent bulbs is that in order to change color, a colored lens must be placed over the pool light inside the pool. This was very common 20+ years ago but now there are more efficient options on the market.

The bulbs life is much shorter than that of LED bulbs.

What maintenance is required?

Once your lights have been installed the most common maintenance is replacing the bulbs as needed, and with Blue Iguana on your side you don't have to sweat that either. We'll do it for you!
In rare situations a switch of GFCI may need replacing, but our technicians will help with diagnosing and repairing.
Regardless of the type of light, you should never have to lower the water level in the pool to replace the bulb. Our technician will loosen the screw holding the fixture in place, elevate the bulb housing above water level and replace the bulb.
There are a few circumstances where the entire light housing will need to be replaced, which is a slightly more in depth project, but we're here and ready to help!
